About Us

Anthony Carus

With extensive experience in the insurance industry, and involvement in personal injury claims since 1991, Anthony Carus brings a wealth of experience to client work.

He initially trained with Refuge Assurance then moved to NFU Mutual. Whilst with NFU Mutual he filled various roles, becoming the Appointed Actuary in 1996 before leaving to establish Carus Consulting Actuaries
in 2004.

In relation to personal injury work, his initial involvement was with all aspects of structured settlement annuities and, since establishing Carus Consulting Actuaries, providing expert witness statements for both claimants and defendants and advising defendants on the management of periodical payment orders.

He is a holder of the Cardiff University Bond Solon Civil Expert Witness Certificate.

  • Formerly Chairman of the Periodic Payments Committee of the Association of British Insurers
  • Juror for the SCOR Re (UK) actuarial prize (yearly from 2003 to 2010)
  • President of the Birmingham Actuarial Society (1999 to 2001)
  • Committee involvement for the Institute of Actuaries: International Convention 1998; UK Life Convention 2000
